With Baby Yoda and related meme-ing now fully injected into the veins of the collective public consciousness, we might as well have expected other Baby-ified pop culture figures to start popping up for a piece of the proverbial pie.
Enter Sonic Baby Sonic, the latest revealed addition to the once-controversial new Sonic the Hedgehog movie due in February:
Thanks to the arrival earlier this week of another trailer for the Jeff Fowler-directed movie, prospective viewers have been introduced to what is indeed a baby Sonic character of some sort. Fans will also note that what appears to be the Green Hill Zone makes an appearance in the latest glimpse at this new take on the Sonic tale.
Naturally, the debut of a so-called "Baby Sonic" has resulted in the sort of tweeted reactions that somehow spur entire articles to be written, a la:
Fowler's Sonic was originally set to be released back in November. Following the fan reaction to the character's initial design, however, all that changed.
"The message is loud and clear... You aren't happy with the design [and] you want changes," Fowler said in response to fans over the summer. "It's going to happen. Everyone at Paramount [and] Sega are fully committed to making this character the BEST he can be." Several months later, a new trailer was released debuting the Sonic overhaul.
Sonic the Hedgehog is now set to open on Feb. 14.
