Good news, everyone! Looks like in addition to 85 additional chapters of Trapped in the Closet that are on the way, we can now expect a Broadway musical to go along with them. According to the New York Daily News, R. Kelly announced his plans yesterday to bring his "hip hopera" to the stage, and that he may even appear in a few performances.

"To transform it into a Broadway version, that’s what I’m working on," he told the audience at the NYC premiere of the new Trapped in the Closet installments, which are set to air on IFC this Friday. The Trapped in the Closet saga began as a string of songs back in 2005, which then turned into a video series musical of sorts - so, when you think about it, a Broadway musical really is the next step.

"I’m just having a lot of fun. I don’t have a job, so I sit in the studio all day and think of stuff to do," Kelly continued. "And this is just something stupid I’ve done that’s been successful for me...I’m having a lot of fun with it."

As for the upcoming 85 chapters, Kelly added: "The chapters that are coming — the show, we call it — is going to exceed every chapter that you have ever seen." So, better than the time we found out that Officer James' wife Bridget has a secret lover who's a little person named "Big Man"? We'll believe it when we see it.
