If you notice a gaggle of The O.C. and Gossip Girl fangirls freaking out on the Internet today, here's why: According to People, The O.C. star Adam Brody and Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester are engaged, after dating for about nine months. Though neither party has made a comment, People has reportedly confirmed the news. The Daily Mail has a little more insight into the engagement, thanks to an unnamed "insider" who probably isn't much of an insider anymore after sharing this with the tabloids: "Leighton and Adam are crazy about each other and have talked about getting married eventually. But she had no idea he would propose so soon! It was the surprise of her life and she’s ecstatic!"
Brody was previously in a relationship with his O.C. costar Rachel Bilson for three years, and Meester dated her Gossip Girl costar Sebastian Stan for one year. Brody and Meester met while on the set of The Oranges in 2011, but didn't begin dating until February 2013.
