Just when you thought Ubisoft couldn't possibly release another two entries for their storied Assassin's Creed series in a single year, the French publisher has announced the AC boardgame, Assassin's Creed: Arena, will be hitting store shelves later this month.
Arena lets you play one of up to four templars from Assassin's Creed Revelations, using a fairly complex set of rules and cards to hide, assassinate or run from guards along the Constantinople rooftops that naturally make up the game board. No word on how long an average game takes to play, where Old Ezio may be or what happens if your Animus shorts out (note: probably not an actual game mechanic) but you need what sounds like a lot of victory points to win by default, lest event cards are fully depleted.
The game is a joint collaboration with Cryptozoic Entertainment, responsible for the Walking Dead boardgame, among many others. As long as Ubi worked with Crytopozoic to include all that living history it'll probably be that much more fun, as boardgame classics like Axis and Allies and Twilight Struggle can attest. Arena will be out February 26 for $50.
