While Roseanne Barr has been quite vocal about ABC's cancellation of her show Roseanne, her on-screen husband John Goodman has been particularly quiet. Now, he's finally shared at least some thoughts on the debacle.
Though ET Online reports the actor didn't want to add too much, preferring to "say nothing than to cause more trouble," he did say that "everything's fine" in the wake of the show being taken off the air by ABC as well as cable networks that once aired reruns. He went on to add that while his performance on the show has been long lauded, he wasn't holding his breath for any awards.
"I wasn’t gonna get an Emmy anyway," he said. "I’ve been up there 11 times already, and if I didn’t get one I’m not gonna get one."
The actor went on to say that he actually hasn't been keeping up with the controversy, and had no knowledge of reports that the rest of the cast may continue on without Barr in some capacity. Fans of the show have already been speaking out to put this very idea into motion. "I don't know anything about it. I don't read it," he said. "You've heard more than I have."
Barr took to Twitter after news of the cancellation broke (despite saying she was leaving the platform) to express her disappointment that her actions caused Goodman, along with the rest of the show's cast and crew, to lose their jobs. Barr shared a racist tweet about former Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett, triggering severe backlash that would lead to the show's cancellation. She would go on to claim she didn't know Jarrett was black and even blamed popular sleeping aid Ambien for her tweets.
