The bad old days have relocated to Queens. Though New York's prostitutes used to run Times Square, most of the cities illegal sex workers can now be found in the Jackson Heights and Corona neighborhoods of Queens.
This harrowing article describes the terrible ways immigrants are forced into prostitution. Speaking little to no English, these women become trapped in a vicious cycle of abuse. A number of organizations, including Voces Latinas, are speaking out about the problem, which is running rampant in the aforementioned neighborhoods.
