For ten days, Migrating Forms 2011 will occupy the Anthology Film Archives, screening new film and video works as well as a couple classics from decades past. Up until three years ago, this festival was known as the New York Underground Film Festival; things have changed since then, but the sense of integrity has not.
Many of the works at this year's festival confront the effects of the internet and viral videos on moving pictures. The Art of the Supercut discusses collage projects specifically, including work culled exclusively from reality television. Similarly, Oliver Laric's Versions incorporates repetitive clips from Disney animation, among other things.
We're excited.
