Right now they're just prototypes, but the upstart mobile phone company ADzero plans to release its first bamboo handset line later this year.
Each phone is made from a four-year-old solid block of the Chinese wood, which is said to be as strong as any plastic found in comparable phones. The company chose Bamboo because they were looking for a local, sustainable material nearby to where the phones would be manufactured. Plus, it just looks cool.
The phone was designed by the appropriately named Kieron-Scott Woodhouse, a Middlesex University student in London whom ADzero discovered via a blog post.
