The black-out of last night's Golden Globes seemed to be embraced by just about everyone in attendance. From major Hollywood icons like Meryl Streep and Oprah Winfrey to first-time nominees Daniel Kaluuya and Ann Dowd, the influence of the #Time'sUp movement was more than visible; except for one or two individuals.

An actress by the name of Blanca Blanco decided to ditch the suggested dress-code and go for a revealing red gown with a plunging split, which she flaunted proudly on the red carpet and on Twitter as she arrived.

It was a bold choice, especially knowing just how far-reaching the movement was being felt, but in a statement to Refinery 29it seems like Blanco knew exactly what she was doing. "I love red," Blanco stated. "Wearing red does not means I am against #timesup movement. I applaud and stand by the courageous actresses that continue to brake [sic] the circle of abuse through their actions and their style choice. It is one of many factors leading women to a safer place because of their status in the acting world. I am excited about the 'Time's UP' movement because true change is long overdue."

Her response was simple enough, and of course choosing to wear red rather than black does not mean you are fundamentally against the mission of the #Time'sUp movement, but still, her explanation seems to fall a little flat. If you're going to purposely choose to make a fashion statement that you know will be severely scrutinized, you might want to have a better answer than "I just love red." The B-movie actress, intentionally or not, made a decision that has turned the attention to her own nonconformity, when the real issue behind the movement holds such a greater significance than a simple color preference.

Blanco had her share of supporters and critics online as well.

You didn't get the memo?

So distasteful and disrespectful, there's a time and place to show off. This wasn't it. It was about SOLIDARITY, being TOGETHER.

Did you see some of the other dresses? They were black and they were stunning. This, not so much! Tacky attempt to get talked about. You can’t buy class unfortunately

She just wanted the publicity...whether good or bad. Kill the story about her red dress. Not worth it. #narcissist
