Beta registration for Microsoft's new world-building game is now open via the Join Project Spark website.

Project Spark allows players to build terrain such as mountains, waterways, and fields using Kinect voice commands and Microsoft's SmartGlass. The world can be populated with customizable flora and fauna and interactions with the environment can be edited such as how rocks and flowers react to user avatars moving near them.

Microsoft Studios designer Claude Jerome demoed Project Spark during this year's E3. Jerome explains the Spark concept:

"What makes our game special is it allows you to change the behaviors of anything in the world: change the field, tell your own story and share it out to the rich community of other players who are doing the same thing," he said. "Our game is really about sharing and playing with the community."
