Set in 1950s New York, this holiday season Oscar bait drama follows a young department store clerk (Rooney) who falls in love with the titular Carol, a bougie married woman played by the queen, Cate Blanchett. Brb gonna go cry again.
Victor Frankenstein

Is this a comedy? IMdB says drama-slash-horror but it looks more funny than horrifying. This is another adaptation of Frankenstein, with James McAvoy playing the inventive doctor, Victor (or Viktor, technically?), told through the perspective of his assistant Igor, played by Daniel Radcliffe. This movie looks really bad, but I also loved 2003's League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (shut up, it's a fire movie), so there's a good chance I'll enjoy this, too. Plus, Daniel Radcliffe is, like, my favorite human being.
The Witch

Okay, hi, disclaimer: I already saw this film and *spoiler alert* it is REALLY, REALLY GOOD. You plebs need to wait until its release in 2016, but hopefully this trailer will tide you over 'til then. Puritan period pieces are not always very exciting, but this buzzy Sundance horror is intriguing as hell. Spooky woods? Side-eyeing goats? Blood? Convulsions? And well, it's called The Witch. We can expect at least one.
The Martian

Wait I have a kind of dumb question, but here goes: Why are Matt Damon and Jessica Chastain, stars of last year's Interstellar, in ANOTHER space movie that's totally unrelated? I mean, there's nothing really wrong with that, it's just confusing as hell, and there are other actors. But anyway, Matt Damon plays an astronaut stranded on Mars, forced to grow shit on this foreign planet in order to survive, and also trying to get back home. Not sure how I feel about this film, but the cast is promising: Alongside Damon and Chastain are Kristen Wiig, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sean Bean, Kate Mara, Sebastian Stan, Michael Peña, Mackenzie Davis, Jeff Daniels, and Donald Glover. Wow.

A perfect Halloween movie, if only for the fact that it literally takes place on Halloween. A teen girl stays home on the night of this spooky holiday, and gets tormented by evil-ass trick-or-treaters. They don't want candy—so what do they want? Can't wait to find out.

We were already hyped as hell on this Emily Blunt action flick, but a new trailer dropped this week just a month before the film's release. Blunt plays an FBI agent trapped in a war against drugs between the U.S. and Mexico border. Shit gets cray.
