Margot Robbie's Been Working on a Standalone Harley Quinn Film for 2 Years

Expect Harley Quinn to wreak havoc with more ladies in her forthcoming solo film.

No matter how much the critics may have hated Suicide Squad, one thing was clear: Margot Robbie's take on the psychiatrist-turnt-sociopath Harley Quinn was a favorite amongst many. So much so that fans were practically demanding more Quinn on-screen. And while there's been talk about Gotham City Sirens project that would pair Harley Quinn with other women in the DC universe, as well as the Joker and Harley Quinn film, Robbie had no clue about Harley Quinn's future back in September.

According to a new report, it would appear she now has something resembling a handle on the future of the fan favorite.

During a conversation with MTV, Robbie confirmed there's a Harley Quinn project that she would be producing. "I've been working on it for two years now," she said. When asked to clarify if this was the Joker/Harley movie or the Gotham City Sirens project, Robbie let it be known that this was a totally separate film for Harley. To the surprise of no one, she did comment on nobody knowing when this film would hit, but made it clear that "everyone" was trying to see Harley on screen ASAP.

One of the keys to this project, for Robbie, is getting more women in Harley's life. It makes sense, considering that Harley in the comics thrives when she's working and interacting with the other DC women. The question is, how would this separate spin-off differ from the Gotham City Sirens?

I will say this: news of a standalone Harley Quinn film is music to my ears, but none of this has eased the confusion I have over DC's plans for the future.
