Williamsburg is NYC's Loudest Neighborhood of 2012

Fashionably loud.

The fashion isn't the only thing loud about Williamsburg. Nose complaint data was released as a part of Mayor Bloomberg's surge towards transparency and accessible municipal data, and Williamsburg has received 2,141 noise complaints this year—more than other neighborhood in the city. The data includes complaints from people about parties, cars and construction.

The East Village and Lower East Side weren't far behind, with each receiving just under 2,000 complaints. Areas surrounding Union Square and NYU were also quite loud in 2012, receiving 2.054 complaints. The map above shows results for the entire city, with the loudest areas in red.
