...and apologies if you were.

On the eve of the year's busiest travel, Penn Station was a fucking nightmare. Yesterday evening, Gothamist reported that every single train out of Penn Station was experiencing delays of up to 25 minutes, with one source reportedly saying they had "never seen anything like [it]" before.

Just before 7 p.m., NJ Transit spokesperson Courtney Carroll told Gothamist that the delays stemmed from a disabled Amtrak train that resulted in congestion for trains entering and leaving Penn Station. Carrol explained that the train was moved around 6 p.m., but the delays continued due to the timing and volume of people in the station.

Around 8 p.m. Amtrak spokesman Mark Magliari confirmed that a train experienced a 20 minute delay around 4:18 p.m., then suffered another delay an hour later. This video of the chaos looks like the calm right before the storm in any disaster movie that's been released over the last 15 years:

Today, people have taken to praying for the best:

Funny enough, today is Penn Station's 103rd birthday, so the busiest transit hub in America gets to celebrate with everyone at its party.
