A year ago, NYPD officer Lawrence DePrimo was secretly photographed giving a pair of $100 to a barefoot homeless man by Jennifer Foster, a tourist from Arizona. Though it was eventually revealed that the man, Jeffrey Hillman, wasn't actually homeless, DePrimo was earned widespread recognition for his kindness.

His character and hard work have paid off, as DePrimo has been promoted to detective.

After working at the 6th Precinct in Manhattan, the man nicknamed Larry "Boots" DePrimo is now a detective for the Queens Warrants Squad. DePrimo, who told the New York Post that his office name tag actually says Larry "Booys DePrimo, also added: "It’s a dream come true, this shield is one of the most coveted shields I think in the country, maybe even the world. I look down and it’s still unreal to me."

Both the NYPD and the world need more Lawrence DePrimos.
