The trial for Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is scheduled to begin in November, officials say.
According to the Boston Globe, U.S. District Court Judge George A. O’Toole said the trial will start on Nov. 3 during a federal hearing this morning. CNN reports that earlier this week, Tsarnaev's attorneys filed a report to delay the start of the trial until September 2015.
The Globe adds that prosecutors and defense attorneys had drastically different ideas of when the trial would start. O'Toole's decision reportedly falls closer to what the prosecution had in mind, as it had previously pushed for the trial to begin this fall.
Tsarnaev, 20, was indicted on 30 charges, 17 of which carry the possibility of the death penalty. Tsarnaev pleaded not guilty to all charges last July. Late last month, federal prosecutors announced that they would push for the death penalty.
