The world essentially stopped when Michael Jackson died in June of 2009 when his breathing stopped following a lethal dose of propofol. Pop culture savvy prison officials in Missouri have now elected to use the drug to execute death row inmates.
The decision to replace the current three-drug solution with a single dose of propofol was made by Missouri's Department of Corrections, and didn't require a green light from legislators because it's simply a procedure change.
The lone drawback is that the drug has yet to be tested for use in executions, so officials are uncertain how it should be administered to inmates. Officials have yet to announce when the procedural change will take effect.
