The Discovery Academy in Staffordshire is apologizing after a parent confused an assignment for a suicide note. Students were asked to write “farewell letters” to their families, and Vicki Walker was horrified when her 14-year-old son, Wesley, gave his work to her.
Here’s an excerpt from the letter:
After reading it, Walker says she was convinced she would find her son dead the next morning. Wesley, however, saw nothing wrong with the project. Sensing the bad press, school headteacher Rob Ridout says the exercise was meant to scare anyone, claiming the intention was the “total opposite.”
School work and suicide notes should never, ever mix.
