Kim Kardashian Defends Kanye West on Twitter: 'You Can’t Have a Personality on Social Media These Days'

Still, Kim Kardashian made sure Kanye West clarified some of his tweets about Donald Trump.

Kanye West has been keeping his Twitter fingers very busy in the past few weeks, and today is no exception. Just in the past few hours, Kanye has publicly confirmed that he parted ways with his manager Scooter Braun, declaring he “can’t be managed” and is “nobody’s client”, announced new music with Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, and ASAP Rocky, and showed a cryptic interest in a 2024 presidential run

Kanye’s tweets have proved to be wildly popular, but there’s one person out of the thousands of repliers and retweeters who he will probably have to pay more attention to: his wife, Kim Kardashian West.

Earlier, Kim replied to a tweet by Kanye in which he showed a picture of a hallway in his home and jokingly asked if it looked like “the sunken place.” She replied to the tweet, asking for some clarification: the two apparently had a rule to not show their home on social media, but since he had just broken it, would he now allow Kim’s E! reality show to film in their home?

Ummm babe. We had a rule to not show our home on social media! Soooo can we now allow KUWTK filming in the home? 🤔😂 https://t.co/bUMAn29K5K

The Daily Mail tabloid said Kim was “scold[ing]” Kanye in that tweet, which, to be totally fair, is reading way into it. Kim was clearly kidding, and there’s even a laugh-crying emoji at the end to prove it. Still, that forced Kim to clear things up. She then added an interesting observation, which could be read as a defense of her own tweet as well as her husband’s recent behavior on Twitter.

Oh RELAX I’m joking! Seriously you can’t have a personality on social media these days or your called bizarre or disturbing https://t.co/drTv1tpaXy

Kim went on to accuse the media of attempting to demonize Ye, claiming they were taking news of a "simple business decision" and turning it into a story about mental health. She also said it was wrong to suggest her husband is mentally unstable strictly based on his contrarian views. "He’s actually out of the sunken place when he’s being himself which is very expressive," she tweeted.

To the media trying to demonize my husband let me just say this... your commentary on Kanye being erratic & his tweets being disturbing is actually scary. So quick to label him as having mental health issues for just being himself when he has always been expressive is not fair

Yesterday it was announced that Kanye had parted ways with some business people and media outlets made this about Kanye’s mental health. Rather than just a simple business decision. So I’m glad he tweeted about the state of his company and all of the exciting things happening

He’s a free thinker, is that not allowed in America? Because some of his ideas differ from yours you have to throw in the mental health card? That’s just not fair. He’s actually out of the sunken place when he’s being himself which is very expressive

Mental Health is no joke and the media needs to stop spitting that out so casually. Bottom line

Kim also addressed Kanye's recent statements about Trump, insisting that just because Ye has publicly supported the president, doesn't necessarily mean he agrees with his politics. She also reminded her followers that "Kanye will never run in the race of popular opinion," and insisted his statements are too forward-thinking to be widely accepted at this time.

Now when he spoke out about Trump... Most people (including myself) have very different feelings & opinions about this. But this is HIS opinion. I believe in people being able to have their own opinions, even if really different from mine
He never said he agrees with his politics

— Kim Kardashian (@KimKardashian) April 25, 2018

Kanye will never run in the race of popular opinion and we know that and that’s why I love him and respect him and in a few years when someone else says the same exact thing but they aren’t labeled the way he is and you will all praise them! Kanye is years ahead of his time

Speaking of that recent behavior, one of the more troubling aspects of Kanye’s Twitter “philosophy book” is his continued co-signing of alt-right figures and Donald Trump. Just moments after Kim was tweeting at Kanye electronically, she apparently called Kanye to make sure he clarified his own comments regarding the president. That prompted Kanye to tweet the most stereotypically Kanye line of the day so far: “I don't agree with everything Trump does,” Kanye wrote. “I don't agree 100% with anyone but myself.”

If anything, it’s pretty interesting to see how Kanye and his wife interact on social media, especially since it’s been so long since both of them have been active. It’s also been pretty sweet to see some shots of where Kanye, Kim, North, Saint, and Chicago live.
