Is it just me, or does it seem like every year, Halloween costumes become more and more of a thing? Celebrities always seem to go all out, but then again, they have the time, money, and resources to pour into costumes. Even for us normal folks, there’s always that one person at the party who has a particularly clever or well-constructed costume idea that can make even the most confident of Halloween party-goers feel stupid about their own choice of costume.

The truth is, as soon as October rolls around, the easiest small talk question is: “so what are you gonna be for Halloween?” Even if you think you don’t care about Halloween, you’ll still probably be forced by friends or significant others to dress up as something.  The pressure can be daunting, especially if you’re a lazy procrastinator who has spent the spooky month of October catching up on horror movies.

But at the end of the day, life is hard, and we don’t all have time to research what the greatest moments in pop culture/sports/music were this year and then how to construct the perfect costume that you won’t have to explain over and over again. We also are not all talented makeup artists and sometimes we just don’t know how to apply fake blood in a way that doesn’t look like a child drew on you with a red crayon. This is why we’ve compiled a list of 10 of the best last-minute Halloween costumes for men and women alike that you can copy or get inspired by so you don’t show up as a cat or as “me, but, like, dead” again. (I mean come on, live a little.) You either already own the majority of the things needed for these costumes, or you can pick them up easily at a drugstore or even on the way to the party for a quick DIY. You can thank us later.
