Us writer and director Jordan PeeleΒ has takenΒ a cue from his previous film Get Out for his cameo in his latest project. Unlike other directors who have popped up in front of the camera for their brief appearances in their own projects, Peele made aΒ uniqueΒ cameo in his directorial debut byΒ providing theΒ groans ofΒ the dying deer found in the woodsΒ byΒ Chris Washington, played by Daniel Kaluuya.

At the 3-minute mark of his interview with Fandango, Peele reveals that his cameo in Us came in the form of additional animal voiceΒ work. This time around, he lent his voiceΒ for a dying rabbit, and he even provided some audio of the blood-curdling sound. Although he tells Fandango that he is sharing this tidbit for the first time with them, it is unclear if he was being totally serious or not.

If you haven't seen Us yet, and you'reΒ wondering howΒ the film manages toΒ takeΒ a turn whereΒ a rabbit dies, thenΒ get yourself to the theater, like many people did this weekend. Then you can make the determination for yourself.

According to Deadline, Us narrowly exceeded its weekend box officeΒ predictions,Β pulling inΒ approximately $70.2 million in ticket sales. Anticipation for Peele's follow-up feature was so high that the film surpassedΒ the $33 million thatΒ Get OutΒ brought in its whole debut weekend by Friday night.Β

DespiteΒ its recordΒ opening for an original horror film, UsΒ was unable to topple films in the same genre, like HalloweenΒ ($76.2 million), andΒ theΒ ItΒ rebootΒ ($123.4 million). The Peele-directed project also hadΒ the biggest opening for a live-action original since 2009'sΒ AvatarΒ ($77 million).Β

Thank you to everyone who came out and watched #UsMovie this weekend. πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§β€πŸ‘¦πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘¦β€πŸ‘¦πŸ‡

So run it back next weekend right? https://t.co/3GZVjgad7X
