Womanizer. Bed-hopper. Casanova. Playboy. Whatever you want to call him, the ladies man is a well-worn television trope that has given birth to some of the small screen’s most memorable characters, including Hank Moody (David Duchovny), the novelist/lothario at the center of Showtime’s hit series Californication.

In honor of the show’s sixth season premiere, Complex pays tribute to The 25 Biggest Ladies Men on TV Shows (and their hottest conquests).

25. Dr. Robert Caldwell, St. Elsewhere (1983-1986)

Played By: Mark Harmon
Hottest Conquests: Joan Halloran (Nancy Stafford)

Promiscuity does not agree with Dr. Robert Caldwell (Mark Harmon), a plastic surgeon who arrive at St. Eligius Hospital in the second season of St. Elsewhere as the steady beau of hospital administrator Joan Halloran (Nancy Stafford). But when he is ready to take the next step and Joan is not, Bobby calls the whole thing off and embarks on a sexual bender.

Of course, it being the '80s and St. Elsewhere being mostly a drama, things do not end well for the good doctor; he was the first lead character in a show to contract the HIV virus and one of the first heterosexual ones. Two years after Caldwell's departure in season four (when he went to work in an AIDS hospice), the show made mention of his passing.

24. Dwayne Wayne, A Different World (1987-1993)

Played By: Kadeem Hardison
Hottest Conquests: Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy)

He may have had a thing for Denise Huxtable (Lisa Bonet), but that didn't stop math whiz Dwayne Wayne (Kadeem Hardison) from trying to seduce just about every co-ed on Hillman College's campus. And yes, even we have to admit we attempted to wear those flip sunglasses on occasion and emulate his sick sneaker game.

His seduction attempts struck out on more than one occasion, but Dwayne landed the ultimate prize when he hooked up with Southern belle Whitley Gilbert (Jasmine Guy).

23. Jake Hanson, Melrose Place (1992-1997)

Played By: Grant Show
Hottest Conquests: Amanda Woodward (Heather Locklear), Sydney Andrews (Laura Leighton)

Every woman loves a bad boy, and for much of the '90s that was Jake Hanson (Grant Show), the motorcycle-riding mechanic who never met a T-shirt he didn't want to take off. In fact, the show itself was introduced through Jake as a spin-off of Beverly Hills, 90210, in which he broke the heart of teenage man-eater Kelly Taylor (Jennie Garth). Jake moved out of the famous apartment complex a couple of years before the series actually ended...perhaps because by that point he had slept with all of its residents.

22. A.C. Slater, Saved by the Bell (1989-1993) and Saved by the Bell: The College Years (1993-1994)

Played By: Mario Lopez
Hottest Conquests: Jessie Spano (Elizabeth Berkley), Kelly Kapowski (Tiffani Amber Thiessen)

He could wrestle, dance, and rock a pair of Z. Cavaricci's and hightops with the best of 'em. Bayside High jock A.C. Slater (Mario Lopez) could also offend any non-teenage woman with one word: mama. That was his pet name for high school gal pal Jessie Spano (Elizabeth Berkley), who—oddly enough—was portrayed as a feminist. But I guess that's what made their relationship such a tempestuous one. Ah, teen love.

21. Russell Brand, Brand X with Russell Brand (2012-Present)

Played By: Russell Brand
Hottest Conquests: Katy Perry, Kate Moss

OK, so he's not exactly a television character. But Russell Brand does have a television show...in which he plays himself. And Brand's sexual prowess among women is the stuff that legends are made of; after being named "Shagger of the Year" by British tabloid The Sun three years in a row, the dubious accolade was renamed "The Russell Brand Shagger of the Year Award" in honor of the confessed sex addict. Perhaps that should have given ex-wife Katy Perry pause?

20. Larry Dallas, Three's Company (1977-1984)

Played By: Richard Kline
Hottest Conquests: Unknown

While Jack Tripper (John Ritter) was busy cooking coq au vin and getting handsy with his rotating stable of fetching female roomies, his best friend/upstairs neighbor Larry was trying to get his hands on anything that moved in 1970s San Diego.

And the used car salesman wasn't afraid to whip out any line he could to make the magic happen. Two of his favorites? Telling potential paramours that he was a photographer for Playboy or a doctor. Both of which could lead a naïve girl to get naked. But for all his horndog behavior, we can't recall ever seeing Larry with an actual woman...only hearing about them. Hmm....

19. Nucky Thompson, Boardwalk Empire (2010-Present)

Played By: Steve Buscemi
Hottest Conquests: Lucy Danziger (Paz de la Huerta), Margaret Schroeder (Kelly Macdonald)

Like Tony Soprano before him, Atlantic City treasurer/bootlegger Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) is proof that power is the ultimate aphrodisiac. When he's not finding ways to outsmart the many enemies he's amassed during his rise to power, he can usually be found playing doctor with any number of young ladies, though his taste seems to run toward the dramatic (see Ziegfeld Follies dancer Lucy Danziger and showgirl Billie Kent). Even Nucky's wife Margaret (Kelly Macdonald) was once just a part-time plaything.

18. Sonny Crockett, Miami Vice (1984-1990)

Played By: Don Johnson
Hottest Conquests: Caitlin Davies (Sheena Easton), Detective Gina Calabrese (Saundra Santiago)

No man has ever rocked pastel quite as well as Miami Vice cop Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson). And it's doubtful any man will ever try. Though the series' earliest episodes portray Crockett as a dedicated family man, producers seemed to realize that a married cop is just not as interesting a cop. Especially a cop who lives on a boat, drives a Ferrari, and has a pet alligator named Elvis. And so his wife and son vanished off to somewhere, leaving Sonny alone to seduce women both as himself and as Sonny Burnett, his undercover alter ego.

17. Tommy Gavin, Rescue Me (2004-2011)

Played By: Denis Leary
Hottest Conquests: Janet Gavin (Andrea Roth), Kelly McPhee (Maura Tierney)

A funny thing happened as the seasons progressed on Rescue Me, Denis Leary and Peter Tolan's post-9/11 NYFD drama: The blonder firefighter Tommy Gavin's (Leary) hair seemed to get, the more women he seemed to be fighting off. Seriously.

As if it weren't weird enough that he and his ex-wife Janet continued to love and hate each other in equal parts (sometimes simultaneously) throughout the series, he also seemed physically unable to deflect the sexual attention of any female with whom he came into contact. This included Sheila Keefe (Callie Thorne), the widow of Tommy's beloved cousin and fellow firefighter, who actually sexually assaulted Tommy on two occasions. Talk about The Kavorka!

16. Jerry Seinfeld, Seinfeld (1990-1998)

Played By: Jerry Seinfeld
Hottest Conquests: Elaine Benes (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), Tia van Camp (Jennifer Campbell)

Kramer may have had the Kavorka, but Jerry Seinfeld didn't fare so badly in the romantic department (or the sneaker department). The slim jean-loving comedian seemed to have a gorgeous new lady on his arm—or in his sights—in just about every episode. And with 180 episodes in the beloved sitcom's nine-season run, that's a lot women!

15. Jason Stackhouse, True Blood (2008-Present)

Played By: Ryan Kwanten
Hottest Conquests: Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll), Amy Burley (Lizzy Caplan)

Now, if we got all sorts of scientific and ran the actual numbers, Jason Stackhouse (Ryan Kwanten) has probably not officially bagged the most women on True Blood. But considering that his co-stars are mostly sex-crazed vampires who have been alive for hundreds of years, we'll consider that a technicality.

The show's producers aren't about to let this set of abs go to waste, and as such have partnered the dim bulb police officer with all sorts of women, human and otherwise, including V (a.k.a. vampire blood) addict Amy Burley (Lizzy Caplan), nutty reverend's wife Sarah Newlin (Anna Camp), werepanther Crystal Norris (Lindsay Pulsipher), and baby bloodsucker Jessica Hamby (Deborah Ann Woll). Who knows what sort of supernatural being will invade the town of Bon Temps—or Jason's bedroom—next.

14. Glenn Quagmire, Family Guy (1999-Present)

Played By: Seth MacFarlane
Hottest Conquests: Cheryl Tiegs (as herself), Loretta Brown (Alex Borstein)

OK, so this animated love machine might be considered more of a sexual predator than an honest to goodness lady catcher. But he has bedded his fair share of women...even if he has had to use some chemicals to get some of them in the sack.

He's not above wooing his best friends' wives (Quagmire's affair with buddy Cleveland Brown's wife was the genesis for the spinoff The Cleveland Show), yet the perverted pilot claims his penchant for infidelity stems from his decades-earlier breakup with supermodel/soul mate Cheryl Tiegs. Giggity giggity goo!

13. Dixon Wilson, 90210 (2008-Present)

Played By: Tristan Wilds
Hottest Conquests: Ivy Sullivan (Gillian Zinser), Adrianna Tate-Duncan (Jessica Lowndes)

Every teen drama has that one character who, while not a downright scoundrel, seems to have a serious relationship with just about every lead female character. Dixon Wilson (Tristan Wilds) is that guy on 90210, taking over the serial monogamist role that Brandon Walsh (Jason Priestley) had in the show's original incarnation.

First there was Erin Silver (sister to Kelly Taylor and David Silver of the original cast). Then there was the older woman Sasha (Mekia Cox), who became obsessed with him. Suffice to say, the list goes on and on. The only female he hasn't put the moves on is his sister Annie. But as he's adopted, you never know where the writers might go for a juicy story line. (Hey, Dexter did it!)

12. Chuck Bass, Gossip Girl (2007-2012)

Played By: Ed Westwick
Hottest Conquests: Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), Raina Thorpe (Tika Sumpter)

It's hard to believe that as dandy a dresser as Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) has logged so many notches on his bedpost. But indeed he has. Why? Ask him and he'll simply tell you, "Because I'm Chuck Bass." OK....

While much of the teen soap's six seasons focused on the tumultuous relationship between Chuck and Upper East Side queen Blair Waldorf (Leighton Meester), in between—and let's face it, sometimes during—their on-agains, Chuck proved himself to be quite the playboy, engaging in all sorts of debauchery and putting himself (and his many, many partners) in all sorts of compromising positions. Literally.

But like many a man-whore, true love won in the end, with the very recent series finale providing a crystal ball into Chuck and Blair's not-too-distant future.

11. Joey Tribbiani, Friends (1994-2004) and Joey (2004-2006)

Played By: Matt LeBlanc
Hottest Conquests: Janine Lecroix (Elle Macpherson), Rachel Green (Jennifer Aniston)

For all the bluster that is paid to Joey Tribbiani's womanizing ways—what with his signature "How you dooiinn?" pickup line—not a lot of airtime was devoted to actually seeing the dumb but lovable struggling actor with a woman. And those episodes that did usually showed him being way more into the woman than she was into him. And on more than one occasion, Joey's girlfriends seemed more interested in one of his fellow "friends" altogether.

But he did end up landing Rachel (Jennifer Aniston), if only for a fleeting moment. Which makes him a winner in our book.

10. Captain James T. Kirk, Star Trek (1966-1969)

Played By: William Shatner
Hottest Conquests: Edith Keeler (Joan Collins), Elaan of Troyius (France Nuyen)

When he's not busy venturing off to where no man has gone before, Captain James Tiberius Kirk (William Shatner) can usually be found chasing skirts. Or whatever you call the lower-half of the garments the women—alien and otherwise—he meets wear. But when it comes to settling down, this intergalactic lover has got only one lady on his mind: the Enterprise!

9. Tony Soprano, The Sopranos (1999-2007)

Played By: James Gandolfini
Hottest Conquests: Gloria Trillo (Annabella Sciorra), Irinia Peltsin (Oksana Lada)

There's something to be said for a man with power. How else would one explain the majorly hot hookups managed by mob boss Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini)? For six seasons, Tony's long-suffering wife Carmela (Edie Falco) looked on as her adulterous husband both lusted after (i.e. his shrink Dr. Jennifer Melfi) and often landed a bevy of Jersey girls.

His conquests ranged from the occasional Bada Bing employee to official goomahs like fiery Mercedes saleswoman Gloria Trillo (Annabella Sciorra), art dealer Valentina La Paz (Leslie Bega, who—fun fact—got her start as a dancer in Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo), and real estate developer Julianna Skiff (Julianna Margulies). But in the end, this family man always comes home.

8. Vincent Chase, Entourage (2004-2011)

Played By: Adrian Grenier
Hottest Conquests: Mandy Moore (Mandy Moore), Sasha Grey (Sasha Grey), Amanda Daniels (Carla Gugino), Sophia Lear (Alice Eve)

Because it blurred the line between real-life Hollywood and a fictional one (the series was loosely based on the Tinseltown exploits of Mark Wahlberg, the show's executive producer), the producers of Entourage were often able to cast real-life movie stars as the love interests of fake movie star Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier), including Mandy Moore as Mandy Moore, Vincent's co-star in the (not real) Aquaman franchise. Make sense?

In the show's seventh season, porn star-turned-sort-of-legit-actress Sasha Grey (also as herself) became one of Vincent's many bedmates. But (SPOILER ALERT!) monogamy ultimately won out on the show's eighth and final season, when Vinnie falls for Vanity Fair writer Sophia Lear (Alice Eve), who—ironically enough—writes a scathing story on the actor, calling him an "insecure womanizer." We guess that's what passes for a Hollywood ending nowadays.

7. Arthur Fonzarelli, a.k.a. The Fonz, Happy Days (1974-1984)

Played By: Henry Winkler
Hottest Conquests: Ashley Pfister (Linda Purl), Maureen (Nellie Bellflower)

Though Happy Days was set in an era where married couples were portrayed as sleeping in separate beds, that didn't stop the Fonz from flaunting his seduction skills by showing up at Al's diner with a buxom babe on his arm (sometimes more than one).

And if he didn't walk in with a lady friend, this lothario needed only to snap his fingers to make a gaggle of them appear. His Jedi mind tricks worked on inanimate objects, too; a mere fist bump from Arthur Fonzarelli could get a jukebox rocking. No television character has worn a leather jacket—or jumped a shark—as well since.

6. Charlie Harper, Two and a Half Men (2003-2011)

Played By: Charlie Sheen
Hottest Conquests: It's difficult to say where Charlie Harper ends and Charlie Sheen begins

It was never a stretch for Charlie Sheen to get into character as composer-turned-jingle man Charlie Harper. The tiger blood-filled actor has never been shy talking about his own sexual conquests, which he claims tops the 5,000 mark. (Well, he was one of Heidi Fleiss' favorite clients for a reason.)

As a primetime show on family-friendly network television, Sheen's alter ego probably can't boast those sorts of totals, but it's not hard to believe that the character's hard-partying ways were loosely based on the actor himself.

5. Hank Moody, Californication (2007-Present)

Played By: David Duchovny
Hottest Conquests: Karen van der Beek (Natascha McElhone), Heather the Nun (Michele Nordin)

If ever there was a character to perfectly illustrate the difference between a sex addict and an old fashioned seducer, it's Hank Moody (David Duchovny), the troubled but talented novelist at the center of Californication. For Moody, the challenge—and excitement—of sex is in the seduction.

And he's had plenty of practice at it, sleeping with just about every female character on the show. But to understand the sex addict, one only need to look at Duchovny himself who, after more than a decade of marriage to actress Téa Leoni, checked himself into rehab for sex addiction in 2008. Let's just call it a case of Method acting.

4. Sam Malone, Cheers (1982-1993)

Played By: Ted Danson
Hottest Conquests: Rebecca Howe (Kirstie Alley), Janet Eldridge (Kate Mulgrew)

Red Sox relief pitcher turned bar owner Sam "Mayday" Malone is one of the few ladykillers to cop to his number of sexual partners. Twice. In an effort to seal the deal with barmaid Diane Chambers (Shelley Long), he comes clean and tells her that he has not really slept with a lot of women, that the number just gets exaggerated in the bar. When pressed for the actual total, he responds, "Oh, I don't know. Maybe four hun..." When Diane gasps, he quickly improvises: "Honeys! Four honeys."

In 1989, when attempting to bed new bar manager Rebecca Howe (Kirstie Alley), Sam devises a plan to lull her to sleep with some warm milk. When know-it-all mailman Cliff Clavin (John Ratzenberger) questions the effectiveness, Sam asks, "Excuse me, Cliff, but have you slept with over 1,000 women?" Sounds like Sam had a busy six years.

3. Dr. Christian Troy, Nip/Tuck (2003-2010)

Played By: Julian McMahon
Hottest Conquests: Kimber Henry (Kelly Carlson), Michelle Landau (Sanaa Lathan)

In an interview with USA Today, Julian McMahon commented that "I'd say without a doubt I've had the most sex scenes in any television show, ever. Last season I did eight sex scenes in one day—I haven't topped that yet." He wasn't kidding.

From the pilot, the show established two key throughlines for the superb series' six-season run: that there would be regular and often stomach-turning footage of surgical procedures set to appropriately-chosen music and that McMahon's plastic surgeon character, Dr. Christian Troy, would dangle his MD like an aphrodisiac to pretty much every woman he meets.

This includes—but is not limited to—a porn star (whom he eventually marries), a lesbian anesthesiologist (whom he also marries), the wife of his best friend and business partner (whom he fathers a child with), a sex addict he meets in therapy, and Rosie O'Donnell (as a white trash lottery winner). And when Christian's female psychotherapist suggests that he may be in love with said best friend and business partner, he bangs her, too.

2. Barney Stinson, How I Met Your Mother (2005-Present)

Played By: Neil Patrick Harris
Hottest Conquests: Robin Scherbatsky (Cobie Smulders), Quinn Garvey (Becki Newton)

We're not sure which casting director thought "Perfect!" when placing Doogie Howser in the role of lecher, but bravo! Perhaps it's that history of geekiness that makes Neil Patrick Harris' antics as suit-wearing swinger Barney Stinson a bit less icky. Or it could be that episodes of the show have flashed back to Barney's earlier incarnation as a sensitive tree hugger who had his heart ripped out by a previous girlfriend.

Whatever the case, the character who has copped to more than 200 one-night stands is clearly a prime reason why this show is on its eighth season with a ninth already confirmed.

1. Don Draper, Mad Men (2007-Present)

Played By: Jon Hamm
Hottest Conquests: Megan Calvet (Jessica Paré), Midge Daniels (Rosemarie DeWitt)

He may not have amassed the largest body count on this list (carnally speaking, of course). But there's not a woman (or man) alive who can deny the many charms of vice-ridden ad man extraordinaire Don Draper (Jon Hamm). He's the kind of guy who can be a misogynistic asshole and still get the girl.

As if to further assert his sexual magnetism, Don can't even keep it in his pants when married to a breathtaking babe like Betty Draper (January Jones). And while he has yet to stray on new wife Megan (Jessica Paré), if Mad Men's phenomenal season five finale hinted at anything it's that all that may be about to change. Stay tuned....
