Without Wikipedia, the vast majority of people would have been in the dark about Marvel’s big announcement that Doctor Strange is heading into production. But hardcore comic fans know how iconic Strange is in the Marvel pantheon, and most importantly, the company itself realizes this. In a recent Q&A at CineEurope, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige had this to say about Strange (via Total Film):

Doctor Strange is important to Marvel for another reason. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Chris Hemsworth don’t have lifelong contracts, and eventually they will retire from these superhero roles. With the right star, Strange can help fill the void in the Marvel Universe, and help a new generation of heroes get on the big screen. That’s why casting is key for a film like this. If done properly, Strange can usher in a new era for the studio.
