Latest 'Deadpool' Image Takes Shot at the Marvel Comics Throne

A response to Marvel Comics killing off Deadpool.

The rollout for the Deadpool movie has been appropriately tongue-in-cheek, and apparently Marvel itself isn't immune from Wade Wilson's smartass musings. Ryan Reynolds responded to the comics killing off Deadpool with a photo of himself reading "The Death of Deadpool" issue in costume on the toilet. The #alivepool hashtag could be construed as a shot at the comic series and as skepticism about the death lasting long.

As Screen Rant points out, there was been widespread speculation that Marvel Comics is attempting to sabotage 20th Century Fox Marvel movies by killing off Wolverine and Deadpool. Last year X-Men writer Chris Claremont told Nerdist: "the X department is forbidden to create new characters… There will be no X-Men merchandising for the foreseeable future because, why promote Fox material?"

It's a nice try to give Marvel's Disney movies the one-up, but Reynolds and company don't seem worried.
