Microsoft's Answer to the Xbox One and its Internet Requirement: Get a 360 (Video)

Microsoft's shifting and often contradictory policies regarding their required online connection came to a ringing moment of clarity last night.

After announcing that, yes, the console will need to check in online once every 24 hours, Micrososft has been attempting to plug hole after hole in terms of public reception to the news.

Xbox chief Don Mattrick offered up a reasonable alternative for the Xbox One and its online requirement ahead of Microsoft's E3 keynote event.

"Fortunately we have a product for people who aren't able to get some form of connectivity, it's called Xbox 360," says Mattrick. "If you have zero access to the Internet, that is an offline device."

Obviously, these comments could be interpreted as flip at the very least. Mattrick seems to gloss over instances where Internet connectivity can be spotty or just plain unavailable. While Microsoft has stated how committed they are to the current generation and have promised to continue to support the 360 for at least another 5 years, it still seems like Microsoft is doubling down with their next-gen console.
