It looks very much like we're getting a Call of Duty Black Ops III this year. A teaser trailer that was initially reported as a leak but later confirmed by Activision dropped this morning and it looks like this year's installment of CoD is going to be Black Ops. Treyarch, the development studio behind 2015's release of Call of Duty even went as far as tweeting out

It feels good to be back. It feels even better to be #BackInBlack. Let’s do this.

After Sledgehammer games dropped Advanced Warfare last year, development duty has been handed off to a different studio for the next installment. The trailer is little more than a teaser that gives us a date for the full trailer launch which is April 26 and is well, wildly cryptic. Right. Well swirling numbers and disembodied voices aside let's begin the rampant speculation about what form Black Ops III is going to take. Personally, I think it's going to be a throwback prequel situation since last year's Advanced Warfare put players so far into the future and Treyarch still has plenty of source material for a Black Ops and Alex Mason story that takes the form of a prequel. Guess we'll find out at the end of the month what form the story takes before the game drops later this fall.
