The 20 Best Kisses in MTV Movie Awards History
Will this year's awards have history-making smooches?

The MTV Movie Awards are coming.
The beauty of this show is that the awards are arbitrary. Producers make up new categories every year just so a specific person can win and make an appearance (I’m looking at you, Zac Efron for Best Shirtless Performance). Jim Carrey said it best when he joked in his acceptance speech in 1998 for Best Comedic Performance for Liar Liar: “I’d like to thank the producer of this show that sat and thought, ‘Wow, I can get a lot of commercial coverage and sell a lot of time if I could get a bunch of celebrities together in a room!”
Well thankfully that producer decided to get these celebrities together in a room because sometimes they smooch and it’s awesome. Let’s get weird together and analyze the best kisses in MTV Movie Award history.
EXCEPT YOU, TWILIGHT. WE WILL NOT BE DISCUSSING TWILIGHT. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart won the award for Best Kiss from 2009 to 2012, which I regard as the blackest hole in the history of American culture. We live in a post-Twilight society and I’d like to keep it that way.
Watch the 2015 MTV Movie awards hosted by Amy Schumer tonight at 8 p.m.
20.Carol and Greg Brady Kiss, Subsequently Ruin Your Childhood
Year: 1993
I know this is technically in a movie parody but it’s a kiss, damnit, and we’re talking all kisses here. That being said, I’m only including this because I have to. It’s so gross and I hate it so much.
19.Natasha Henstridge and Anthony Guidera
Year: 1996
I don’t know who these people are but they kissed once.
18.Julia Stiles and Sean Patrick Thomas
Year: 2001
Save the Last Dance is a fantastic movie and I will fight anyone to the death that disagrees with me. This kiss is real boring, though. Where’s the PASSION? Hmm!?
17.Brüno and Eminem
Year: 2009
I’m counting this as a kiss. Just let me have this.
16.Selma Blair and Sarah Michelle Gellar
Year: 2000
LADIES KISSIN’ LADIES. What a way to welcome the new millennium.
15.t.A.T.u.
Year: 2003
I would just like you to watch this entire clip because ahhhh yes, 2003. Remember that random ass period in time when Ashton Kutcher and P. Diddy were best friends? Yeah, well, here it is in its full glory. T.a.T.U.—the Russian girl band comprised of two young women who pretended to be lesbians to make money—perform the only two songs of theirs you know, and they fill the theater with ladies that fling their clothes off and make out. At the end of the performance, you’ll notice Ashton and P. Diddy pick up handfuls of clothes and clap with them, because they are two men that hate attention.
14.Jack Black and Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Spider-Man Kiss
Year: 2002
This movie parody is arguably the best in the show’s history, and it recreates the Spider-Man kiss with a twist straight from the mind of Jack Black. For all you Jack Black haters, just skip to 4:15 for the kiss. Editor’s note: I remember hearing boys in my sixth grade class talk about the fact that Sarah Michelle Gellar didn’t wear a bra. Author’s Note: Yeah, she’s definitely not wearing a bra.
13.Carmen Electra and Snoop Dogg, Carmen Electra and Paris Hilton
Year: 2004
We’ve been lied to, America. Carmen Electra’s real name is Tara Leigh Patrick. Look at the liar accepting the Best Kiss award for her role in the three-way kiss from Starsky & Hutch. Since Owen Wilson and Amy Smart weren’t there, the liar kissed Paris Hilton and Snopp Dogg instead. Sidenote: what Instagram filter is Paris Hilton’s skin?
12.Jim Carrey and Alicia Silverstone
Year: 1997
I had no idea this was a thing that happened in the world until I came across it in my very extensive research for this very important story. Alicia Silverstone, I’m so sorry. Are you okay, Alicia Silverstone? Please respond posthaste.
11.Anthony Kiedis and Marisa Tomei
Year: 1992
THEIR KISS IS RED HOT, AMIRIGHT? I’ll see myself out, thank you.
10.Ashton Kutcher and Christina Ricci
Year: 2001
Just kidding, I’m back. These two humans introduced the Best Kiss award and went for it themselves.
9.Adrien Brody and Queen Latifah
Year: 2003
Here’s Adrien Brody and Queen Latifah riffing on Brody’s infamous kiss with Hallie Berry at the Oscars. Adrien’s really living, man.
8.Ben Stiller and Puffy the Dog
Year: 1999
“Oh my god, my first boner!” —The guy behind them.
7.Jon Lovitz and Courteney Cox
Year: 1995
Some of you may be asking, “Who?” Some of you might be asking, “What?” But I’m asking one question, and one question only: Whyyyyyyy?
6.Ben Affleck and Kevin Smith
Year: 1999
It was hard to find an image of Affleck and Smith lockin’ lips because it turns out that Ben Affleck kisses lots of men.
5.Will Ferrell and Sacha Baron Cohen
Year: 2007
Perhaps the most tender kiss on this list. If you look quickly it looks like two dudes from IT making out.
4.UGH, FINE, OKAY, 'TWILIGHT'
Year: 2010
I know I promised you a Twilight-free post, but I had to include this to make this list an even, sweet 20. They won the best kiss award FOUR times. FOUR. How many times did they kiss? ONCE. And it was the most awkward thing these eyes of mine have ever seen. Their bodies are pasty and their faces are sweaty and my ex-friend told me they kind of turn her on and then I told her we were no longer friends, hence ex-friend. I'm not giving you a picture of them actually kissing because they are the worst and you can find it yourselves.
3.Sandra Bullock and Scarlett Johansson
Year: 2010
What is this feeling I’m feeling?
2.Briana Evigan and Robert Hoffman
Year: 2008
Where were you when Step Up 2: The Streets, came out? I know where I was. In a movie theater. Because I saw the film twice. Note my use of the word “film.” It’s the greatest film in the history of American cinema.
1.Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams
Year: 2005
This moment couldn’t be any more of a zeitgeist for 2005. Paul Walker (R.I.P.) and Ziyi Zhang introduce the award. We get audience reaction shots from Hilary Duff and a blonde Lindsay Lohan because they were “feuding.” “She Will Be Loved” by Maroon 5 plays as that damn kiss from The Notebook is recreated IRL. Every girl in your high school was talking about this moment for weeks. I’m pretty sure they’re still talking about it.
