Last week, Shia LaBeouf casually mentioned that he was raped during his #IAMSORRY performance art exhibit, and naturally a lot of people had follow-up questions. In case you have forgotten, here’s his version:
“One woman who came with her boyfriend, who was outside the door when this happened, whipped my legs for ten minutes and then stripped my clothing and proceeded to rape me. There were hundreds of people in line when she walked out with disheveled hair and smudged lipstick. It was no good, not just for me but her man as well.”
Piers Morgan wasn’t buying Shia’s explanation, going off on the following Twitter rant:
Shia LaBeouf's claim to have been 'raped' is truly pathetic & demeans real rape victims. Grow up, you silly little man…A Hollywood actor sitting with a paper bag over his head who did nothing as he claims a woman 'raped' him has not been raped…People are actually defending Shia LaBeouf. The world's gone mad…He's invented a supposed 'rape' for cheap PR - utterly shameful…Shia LaBeouf invited people to do they want to him, then let a woman 'rape' him without doing or saying a word? Utterly ridiculous…The supposed 'rapist' is easily traceable, this was a public event. I suggest Mr LaBeouf now calls the police to report his 'rape'…LaBeouf wants us to believe his girlfriend came in after the 'rape' but he didn't say a word to her in the name of 'art'. REALLY??"
