Thousands of people whose computers have been infected with the DNSChanger virus will lose Internet service on Monday, CNN is reporting.
After a group of Estonian hackers infected four million people around the world with the malicious software that redirected their browsers to dangerous websites, the Federal Bureau Investigation arrested the six men and took control of their servers. The servers were kept online to ensure the victims did not lose Internet service.
However, the FBI has decided that the victims have had enough time to wipe their computers of the virus, and will be shutting down the servers on Monday, July 9.
PC Mag has a good guide on how to check your computer for the DNSChanger virus and how to rid it from your computer.
