One of the most iconic video games of the 90s is getting a hotly-anticipated remaster this week and we've just been given a glimpse of how high the bar has been raised.

Crash Team Racing: Nitro Fueled hits shelves tomorrow – 20 years after the original CTR hit PlayStation in 1999 – and publisher Activision has just dropped several screenshots to whet the appetites of gamers who are lining up for a wumpa fruit inspired nostalgia fix.

The new remaster includes all 31 tracks included in the two previous CTR releases and similar to the critically-acclaimed revamp of the Crash Bandicoot trilogy last year, every aspect of the original game has been recreated with extra details and splashes of creativity, showcasing just how far gaming has come in 20 years.

The original Crash Team Racing went down as a seminal release for an entire generation of gamers and it looks like the resurrection of this franchise was way overdue. Check out the 'before and after' shots of Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled below.
