Chrissy Teigen has come to Vanessa Hudgens’ defense after the actress made some questionable remarks about the coronavirus.

On Tuesday, Hudgens took to Instagram Live to share her point of view on the viral pandemic, saying, “Even if everybody gets it, like yeah, people are going to die, which is terrible...but inevitable?”

After Hudgens apologized, calling her comments “insensitive and not at all appropriate for the situation,” Teigen has asked everyone to show kindness toward the High School Musical alum instead of slamming her.

“Sometimes people, especially famous people, are gonna say really stupid shit. & so are you,” Teigen tweeted on Tuesday. “And they, and u, will learn from it & hopefully their history says they’re good. It’s ok. And at the same time, wow they really had a dumb fuckin moment. But u don’t have [to] ruin their lives.”

Teigen continued, “This isn’t about me this time. but it will be one day, or it’ll be you. but yeah today it’s Vanessa lol.”

Teigen responded to a follower, agreeing that Hudgens' comments were “really dumb,” but said that “the knives gotta go.”

She also spoke from her own experience, as an internet personality who's endured her own controversy.

Yeah she said something really dumb and it sucks and she for sure feels terrible and just stop watching her stuff but the knives gotta go https://t.co/ovSpgLTtUn

What can I say. Kids and online torture have made me a much more empathetic person. May you never be on the end of everyone hating you.

However, Olivia Wilde wasn’t as forgiving. The actress said, “In a thousand years they'll dig up our society and find this precious digital moment and be like ‘mmmm oh okay this is why they mysteriously disappeared from the EARTH,’” when someone shared a video of Hudgens' Instagram Live.

Other celebrities sounded off in the comments. Fuller House actress Candace Cameron Bure posted several SMH emojis, and Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s daughter Rumer Willis commented with three grimacing face emojis.

Hudgens offered her apology on Tuesday evening, writing, “I realize my words were insensitive and not at all appropriate for the situation our country and the world are in right now. This has been a huge wake up call about the significance my words have, now more than ever. I’m sending safe wishes to everyone to stay safe and healthy during this crazy time.”
