Ever feel like you're spending more time searching Netflix for something to watch than you're actually spending on watching things? Gizomodo appears to have discovered a trick that might be able to help you out with that.
While we're all familiar with browsing the usual Netflix genres (documentaries, comedies, independent movies, etc.) a small tweak to the Netflix URL you're looking at using these "secret codes" will unlock hyper-specific alternative genres that don't normally appear as options.
Feel like watching a "mockumentary?" Yep. How about an "Asian action movie?" Sure. How about a "visually-striking steamy movie?" We're not sure what that is, but it's definitely an option.
All you have to do is take this URL: www.netflix.com/browse/genre/6839, and change the numbers at the end. For example, changing it to www.netflix.com/browse/genre/12762 brings up "basketball movies." Changing it to www.netflix.com/browse/genre/2142 brings up "gritty thrillers from the 1970s."
There is a full list of all the codes available here.
