Jamie Foxx will play a young Mike Tyson in a movie. Martin Scorcese might be involved and Terence Winter is writing.

It was only a matter of time before they made a movie about the wild, troubled, tragic and glorious life of Mike Tyson.

It's still in the early stages, but Tyson himself says Jamie Foxx is going to portray the former youngest-ever heavyweight champion of the world in the upcoming film.


"Within a year to 18 months, we’re going to do the Mike Tyson story and he’s going to portray me, and now they have this new animation; because you know Jamie’s pretty much my age so he can’t portray me but they have this new system," Tyson told the Daily Mirror

The "animation" he's referring to, we assume, would be CGI effects that would let Foxx become a young Tyson in his prime, back when he was still doing this to people:

Here's all we know so far, according to Variety: There's no studio or title yet, but Terence Winter, the creator  and writer of Boardwalk Empire is penning the script, and Foxx's manager Rick Yorn is producing.

Tyson also told the Mirror that Martin Scorcese would be involved somehow, though he didn't specify in what capacity. 

Foxx has always had a funny Tyson impression, but he'll need to step it up from this for the big screen:
