The family of social media influencer Rolling Ray is warning his fans not to be tricked by scammers trying to make money off of his death.
Rolling Ray, real name Raymond Harper, died last week—and accounts claiming to be associated with his family began to pop up on social media.
Harper's family has since gained control of his Instagram account, posting a warning about one of the fake pages that claim to be fundraising to help pay for his funeral expenses.
In one of the Instagram posts, the family included a screenshot of the alleged fake page with the message, "I want to first say thank you to everyone that has shown love as we continue to push through…. The post was not created by me Ray’s mother his siblings nor his stepdad, Its really sad to see this."
The post continues, "If you would like to send messages, or just simply want to give you can either DM here and we will provide that information. We appreciate and love all that loved Ray."
The alleged fake TikTok account is posing as Harper's mother with page information that reads, "Losing my son, I will forever be heartbroken. He was truly loved. We are currently having a hard time properly burying him. Any donations will help."
The account includes videos of Harper as well as a screenshot of a Cash App QR code.
The Zeus Network announced Harper's death last week with a post on Instagram that read, "Gone way too soon. #RestInPeace to the BIG hearted, most Raw, & Real FRIEND & #Zeus Star #RaymondHarper aka @iamrollingray. 🙏🏾 Your Laughter, Light, & Loving Spirit will Live on FOREVER! From #BobbyILoveYouPurrr to #TheConversation, you were Unapologetically & Authentically your TRUEST Self. From your ZEUS Fam, we Love, Thank, & will Miss you Always!
