Kim Kardashian has been steadily working toward a legal career for years, and she says her long hours of studying are finally about to pay off.
The 45-year-old reality star and entrepreneur revealed that she’s just weeks away from officially becoming a licensed attorney.
Kardashian first announced her interest in pursuing law back in 2018, when she began an apprenticeship with a San Francisco law firm through California’s Law Office Study Program, according to People. The non-traditional route allows students to train under practicing attorneys rather than attending law school.
Her path has included passing the First-Year Law Student’s Examination — commonly referred to as the “baby bar” — in 2021, as well as the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam in Los Angeles earlier this year.
On May 21, Kardashian completed the six-year study program, which took longer than expected due to the pandemic and her workload across business and television. According to Jessica Jackson, one of the attorneys who mentored her, Kardashian logged over 5,000 hours of legal study while balancing multiple careers and raising four children.
Now, all that’s left is her bar exam results. Speaking on The Graham Norton Show on Friday, October 24, Kardashian said she expects to know within the next two weeks.
“I will be qualified in two weeks. I hope to practice law,” she told the host, adding that she envisions stepping into the courtroom full-time down the line. “Maybe in 10 years, I think I’ll give up being Kim K and be a trial lawyer. That’s what I really want.”
Kardashian appeared on the BBC program alongside actress Sarah Paulson, her costar in the upcoming Hulu legal drama All’s Fair. While promoting the series, she explained how she managed to juggle filming with her other commitments.
“It was mentally challenging having to do it all, but I loved it,” Kardashian said. Paulson added that her castmate’s work ethic impressed her, saying, “She made me feel like a slacker. She’s running a business, she’s looking after four children, and she’s studying for the law. She really is an impressive person.”
