A year after the first stills for the Ted Bundy film starring Zac Efron as the notorious serial killer appeared online, we officially have first trailer. The Joe Berlinger-directed biopic, titled Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile, is set to premiere at the 2019 Sundance Festival this Saturday.

The movie follows Bundy's criminal exploits as seen through the eyes of his longtime girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer (Lily Collins). While tracking his life from 1969 on, Extremely Wicked will also cover his 1979 trial, in which Bundy famously served as his own attorney. John Malkovich, Haley Joel Osment, Jim Parson, Kaya Scodelario, and James Hetfield of Metallica also star. Extremely Wicked has yet to receive a release date.

From the look of the trailer, Efron channels all of his movie star charm for his portrayal of the famously charismatic murderer. Bundy was known for utilizing his specific gifts to lure women into a false sense of security, often feigning injuries or even disabilities to garner sympathy. He would then drive them in his 1968 Volkswagen Beetle to a secluded location, where he would rape and murder them.

During his trial, Bundy denied all the murders he comitted. However, shortly before his execution, he confessed to 30 homicides comitted between 1974 and 1978, although it is suspected that the true number of his victims is even higher.

There seems to be a bit of a Bundy renaissance happening in pop culture, with the recent release of Netflix's four-part docuseries, Conversations with a Killer: The Ted Bundy Tapes, which was also directed by Berlinger.
