The first trailer for Ridley Scott’s hugely anticipated House of Gucci has arrived.
Starring Lady Gaga as Patrizia Reggiani and Adam Driver as Maurizio Gucci, House of Gucci follows the real-life story of Reggiani’s involvement in orchestrating the assassination of her ex-husband and the former head of Gucci. As you might’ve guessed, the riveting clip is filled with some bold fashion choices from the two leads, who spent the early part of the pandemic shooting the film in Italy. We got our first official look at Driver and Gaga as their characters back in March.
Rounding out the stacked cast is Jared Leto, Jeremy Irons, Al Pacino, and Salma Hayek, three of whom are featured in the brand new character posters, including one of Jared Leto looking unrecognizable as Paolo Gucci. House of Gucci is currently scheduled to land in theaters on Nov. 24, with a streaming release on Paramount+ to follow later down the line.
While its unclear how faithful Scott will remain to the true life events, Reggiani was tried and convicted of hiring a hitman to murder Maurizio Gucci in 1998 following Gucci’s death in 1995, a year and a half after he sold his share in Gucci. Earlier this year, the Gucci family expressed their disappointment in the project. “They are stealing the identity of a family to make a profit, to increase income of the Hollywood system,” Maurizio’s second cousin, Patrizia Gucci, said in April. “Our family has an identity, privacy. We can talk about everything, but there is a borderline that cannot be crossed."
House of Gucci isn’t the only movie that director Ridley Scott has arriving before the end of the year. Earlier this month, the first trailer for The Last Duel starring Jodie Comer, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Adam Driver dropped as well. Set in France during the Middle Ages, The Last Duel hits theaters on October 15.
