During a toast to Adam Sandler at the Kennedy Center Honors on Sunday, Chris Rock jokingly compared the Oscars slap to the hammer attack on Paul Pelosi.

Rock, who recently went in on Will Smith over the incident in his live Netflix comedy special, took this latest opportunity to discuss the topic of the Oscars slap while taking a shot at the Academy for snubbing Sandler’s performance in Uncut Gems. “The Oscars, you know, they’re fucking assholes, and if they don’t want to give my man his props, then we will here tonight,” he said before shifting back to the slap, per People. "Paul Pelosi, the only guy who knows how I felt. Just me and you, Paul. Just me and you, babe."

Nancy Pelosi’s husband was hospitalized last year when he was assaulted by an intruder in their San Francisco home. The former House Speaker’s husband was released from the hospital within a week of the attack, after undergoing surgery to repair a skull fracture and was treated for facial injuries.

The attacker was later publicly identified as Canadian man David DePape, who was allegedly living in the U.S. illegally for years after his immigration status expired. He was promptly charged with two federal crimes including attempted kidnapping of a federal official and assaulting an immediate family member of a United States official with the intent to retaliate against the official.
