Have you been sitting around with your friends complaining about how there was never a follow-up to 2007's I Am Legend starring Will Smith? Well then boy, do we have some good news for you!
Warner Bros. is rebooting the post-apocalyptic movie with hopes to turn it into a franchise of sorts, according to the AV Club. More zombies, more end of the world doom, hopefully less sad dog deaths. But Big Willie Style is pretty sequel-averse, it's almost a given that the new movie will feature another actor/character a la Bourne Legacy.
The story of how an I Am Legend sequel came to be is a pretty interesting one. After the breakout success of the original, the studio was eager to cash in on the popularity. They were mulling over the possibility of a prequel, until they realized that no one wants to watch a movie about a scientist living in a normal world that isn't full of zombies. So instead, they plucked up a script by former Apple Store employee Gary Graham which was originally posted to the website, The Black List. The script, A Garden at the End of the World, had similar a story and themes to I Am Legend, so Warner Bros. asked Graham to re-tool it into a sequel for them. And now here we are.
