Not even the smartest marks could have predicted the way that Wrestlemania 35's Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal went down. The showdown at MetLife Stadium nearly ended in a win for SNL's Colin Jost. Along with his Weekend Update cohost Michael Che, Jost played the cowardly heel to the boos of the New Jersey crowd, coming out in Odell Beckham Jr.'s Cleveland Browns jersey and hiding under the ring until Braun Strowman was the only fighter left.

When the comedians emerged, they were summarily dealt with by Strowman. They attempted as a unit to throw the big man out of the ring and got booted backwards by the massive wrestler.

Che was dispatched first, prompting Jost to get on the mic and beg for a truce. Of course, this is Wrestlemania, not a place known for peaceful outcomes. So instead, Bowman chucked Jost out of the ring to take home the Andre-sized trophy. The end wrapped up a weeks-long storyline in which Bowman feuded with the two SNL hosts.

.@BraunStrowman is more of a Kate McKinnon fan, tbh. #WrestleMania #AndreBattleRoyal @nbcsnl @ColinJosh pic.twitter.com/OByNeq9Q03

The one-time strongman won the pre-show match, and was left out of the bigger ticket main event for a third straight year.
