Tim Robinson’s new comedy series The Chair Company is arriving to HBO this fall.
The network announced on Monday, September 8, that The Chair Company will premiere on Sunday, October 12 at 10 p.m. ET, getting the coveted HBO Sunday slot. The show was created by Robinson — known for his stints on Saturday Night Live, as well as his own Netflix series I Think You Should Leave — who will also star in the show, and serve as an executive producer.
According to a tagline, The Chair Company tells the story of William Ronald Trosper (Robinson), who “finds himself investigating a far-reaching conspiracy” following “an embarrassing incident at work.” In addition to Robinson, series regulars will include Lake Bell as Barb Trosper, Sophia Lillis as Natalie Trosper, Will Price as Seth Trosper, and Joseph Tudisco as Mike Santini. Lou Diamond Phillips recurs as Jeff Levjman.
The Chair Company is executive produced by Robinson and his writing partner Zach Kanin, along with Adam McKay and Todd Schulman for HyperObject Industries, and Andrew DeYoung, and Igor Srubshchik. DeYoung and Aaron Schimberg serve as directors on the series.
The show was first announced a year ago via Deadline, after the pilot was picked up and ordered to series. “With an imprint only Tim and Zach can have on a character, William Ronald Trosper follows in the strong tradition of HBO comedy leads,” said Amy Gravitt, EVP, HBO & Max Comedy Programming in a statement at the time. “I couldn’t be happier to announce the pickup of this wildly enjoyable show.”
Earlier this year, Robinson starred alongside Paul Rudd in the buddy comedy Friendship, which saw the two playing neighbors who develop a close bond, until a devastating incident shakes things up. For Friendship, Robinson also collaborated with DeYoung, who wrote and directed the film.
Following The Chair Company’s series premiere, new episodes will premiere weekly until the season finale on Sunday, November 30. Episodes will also be available to stream on HBO Max.
