The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon invited the creators of viral TikTok dances to perform on the show and talk about how they came up with the moves.
Mya Nicole Johnson, Chris Cotter, Dorien Scott, Fur-Quan Powell, Camyra Franklin, Adam Snyder, Nate Nale, Greg Dahl, and Keara Wilson joined the show after Addison Rae was on Fallon last month to perform eight viral TikTok dances in a segment titled “Addison Rae Teaches Jimmy Eight TikTok Dances.”
People took issue with Fallon inviting Rae, who didn’t create the dances, to perform instead of the mainly Black creators who came up with them and not shouting them out during the segment.
“We recognize the creators of those dances deserve to have their own spotlight,” Fallon said at the beginning of the new clip, acknowledging the controversy surrounding Rae’s recent appearance on the show.
Mya Johnson, who choreographed a popular dance to Cardi B’s “Up” with Chris Cotter, spoke with TMZ shortly after the segment with Addison Rae aired, and said she wished she were invited.
“I was shocked and I was really happy ’cause it’s like my challenge made it all the way to TV, which is like—that’s crazy,” Johnson said at the time. “But then as I started to think, I was like dang, I wish that could’ve been me and Chris [Cotter] performing our own challenge at his show.”
Rae also spoke to TMZ about the backlash surrounding her Fallon appearance and said that the creators “know that I love them so much and I support all of them so much and hopefully one day we can all meet up and dance together.”

Candice Rangel, the mother of Mya Johnson, said that Rae’s comments didn’t sound “sincere.” She continued, “I felt like it was not as genuine, but I definitely don’t feel that her going through this whole situation, I don’t think that she had any bad intent.”
