Marvel fans everywhere are looking forward to the release of Thor: Love and Thunder.

Now, followers have a legitimate reason to rejoice, as Tessa Thompson has confirmed Christian Bale’s role in the film. “Christian Bale is going to play our villain, which is going to be fantastic,” Thomspon told Entertainment Tonight. “It’s going to be good.”

“Valkyrie is king,” Thompson added, referencing her character in the film. “If she can’t find her queen, then she’ll just be king and queen at the same time.”

Back in January, there were rumors that Bale would join the cast, though it wasn’t clear in what capacity. Taika Waititi had been confirmed to direct and write Love and Thunder, which is the follow up to 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. In addition to Bale and Thompson, Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman.

Bale’s appearance in the film would be his first superhero flick since The Dark Knight Rises in 2012, which is part of Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy. Thompson will reprise her role as Valkyrie, Marvel Cinematic Universe’s first LGBTQ hero, and Portman will return as Jane Foster.

Thor: Love and Thunder is set to debut on Nov. 5, 2021.
