Saturday Night Live made its return over the weekend with the Season 45 premiere, but Pete Davidson was notably absent. The actor and comedian was still present in the opening sequence, confirming that he's on board for the latest season of the sketch comedy series, yet he didn't show up once. In a report from Entertainment Tonight, it's been revealed that Davidson was simply too busy filming James Gunn's The Suicide Squad to make time for SNL.

James Gunn recently revealed the stacked cast for the DC project, and production is officially underway in Atlanta. Margot Robbie, John Cena, Jai Courtney, and Nathan Fillion are set to star opposite Davidson in the film. Gunn confirmed the SNL cast member was in Atlanta at the time of the premiere with an Instagram post, showing him with the majority of the cast.

"Some of #TheSuicideSquad (and Pom [Klementieff])," Gunn wrote. "Many of us are doing weird things this photo. After a screening of Joker."

It has yet to be revealed what Davidson's role in the movie is, but details in general remain scarce. It's unclear when he will make it back on Saturday Night Live.
