HBO's Euphoria has come under fire for a certain scene.

On Sunday's episode, the main character Rue (played by Zendaya) explains how a classmate who was awkward in real life became a popular internet camgirl. During the voiceover, Rue states her classmate was always a sexual person. In fact, she used to write X-rated fan fiction about One Direction bandmates Louis Tomlinson and Harry Styles. When describing the stories, the show cut to a graphic, animated scene of Tomlinson and Styles having sex.

This excerpt set the band's cult-like following ablaze. Fans started to wonder how HBO got Louis to agree to have his likeness used for the scene. The answer to this is simple; the network didn't ask him.

I can categorically say that I was not contacted nor did I approve it.

"I can categorically say that I was not contacted nor did I approve it," Tomlinson tweeted when responding to a fan.

Tomlinson's revelation puts HBO and Euphoria in a weird predicament. Tomlinson's disapproval of his likeness being used is just the latest aspect of the show that's rubbed people the wrong way. Prior to the show's premiere, The Hollywood Reporter explained how one actor quit mid-shoot. But despite this, HBO is sticking behind the show stating "It's not sensational to be sensational" as it's focus is on authenticity.
