A timely two years after Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle breathed new life into the decades-old franchise, star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has shared the inaugural trailer for the next one.

Up top, catch the first trailer for Jumanji: The Next Level, which does indeed see Johnson and the team leveling up. Jake Kasdan is back as director for the Jumanji sequel, out Dec. 13 at a theater near you or someone you know. It also stars Karen Gillan, Nick Jonas, Kevin Hart, and Jack Black.

Hart detailed the title's relationship with the plot in an April interview with Collider, noting viewers will again be thrust into a video game'd environment.

"In this particular case, we go back into the game and we're in a new level," he said at the time, offering up praise to Kasdan. "And the way we got back into the game is the way we didn't want to get back into the game. The same people are there. Our same band is back together with this adventure on a much more risky adventure." The stakes, he added, have been noticeably raised.

For Johnson, this isn't the only bankable franchise-expander on the horizon in 2019. His Fast & Furious spinoff Hobbs & Shaw, which let loose its final trailer last week, is due Aug. 2.
