As far as Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige wants us all to believe, a Black Widow prequel hasn't been confirmed, therefore, no such film exists. So, just ignore those reports of Midsommar actress Florence Pugh, and Stranger Things' David Harbour joining the cast with Rachel Weisz rumored to have "strong interest" in signing on to the project as well. Forget the set photos that have been circulating.

For now, let's operate in the hypothetical with Feige, who took a few moments during his promotional run for Spider-Man: Far From Home to branch off on the idea of a Black Widow prequel, you know, if it were to happen.

"There’s a method to the madness," Feige told io9. "There’s always a method and doing things in an unexpected way is something we find fun. There are ways to do prequels that are less informative or answer questions you didn’t necessarily have, and then there are ways to do prequels where you learn all sorts of things you never knew before."

Feige continued his commentary on prequels by referencing Better Call Saul and its approach as a standalone project that's affiliated to Breaking Bad. "I look at Better Call Saul as a wonderful example of a prequel that almost completely stands on its own apart from Breaking Bad because it informs you about so many things you didn’t know about before," Feige continued.

While it appears that Feige favors that type of prequel, he tried keeping the mystery alive, adding with a light chuckle, "So time will tell which way we’ve gone with a supposed Black Widow movie."
