By the time you read this, a petition calling for Keanu Reeves to be named the 2019 Person of the Year by Time will have likely reached its goal of 10,000 signatures.

The Change.org petition, started by either a person actually named John Doe or someone using that as an alias, argues that the John Wick franchise star and revered horse meme aficionado deserves the distinction due to his status as "the most wholesome person alive."

Regardless of the final results of this grassroots campaign, Reeves fans are taking solace in the fact that the prolific actor can still be named Person of the Year in a more general sense without having to earn said distinction from a magazine:

While John Wick 3 is still stacking up dollars and critical acclaim by way of a theater near you, the Reeves revival is set to continue with this month's Toy Story 4 and the 2020 return of the Bill & Ted franchise featuring Kid Cudi. Additionally, next year will bring the release of Cyberpunk 2077, which we recently learned will indeed boast Reeves among its voice talent.
