Catwoman and the Penguin

It's been a big week for Batman fans.

A day after it was revealed that Robert Pattinson was the "top choice" to become the next Caped Crusader, sources have revealed which villains—yes, plural—he will likely go up against in Matt Reeves' The Batman

Per The Hollywood Reporter:

Matt Reeves is still tweaking his script, which is rumored to have at least two villains, the Penguin being one of them, according to sources (one person is telling us there will be around half-a-dozen villains!). We’re hearing of another purrfect character making an appearance in the script as well.

Though the report doesn't specifically name Catwoman, the term "purrfect" is a pretty obvious reference.

The Penguin and Catwoman made an appearance in Tim Burton's 1992 film Batman Returns. The former was played by Danny DeVito, and the latter by Michelle Pfeiffer. Other actresses who have portrayed Catwoman include Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway. It may be a while before we get casting confirmation; however, actor Josh Gad has already expressed interest in taking on The Penguin role.

"You can't have Batman without a villain," Reeves told THR back in January. "There will be a rogues gallery."

The Batman is scheduled to hit U.S. theaters on June 25, 2021. Stay tuned as more information about the film rolls in.
