Game of Thrones, as always, got a lot of people talking thanks to the most recent episode. The Battle of Winterfell took up the entirety of Season 8's "The Long Night," bringing with it plenty of death and a few surprises. One of the most-talked about moments of the episode, however, comes from Maisie Williams' character Arya Stark, who stole the show at the last second. To celebrate her achievement, HBO has declared today 'Arya Day.'
*Spoilers below*
When Arya Stark flew in at just the right moment to give the Night King his comeuppance, fans instantly rallied behind her heroic actions on Twitter. Episode 3 of the final season proved, once again, that Arya is one of the best characters in the show. Needless to say, the reactions to her standout moment have been enthusiastic, and Arya Day is quickly looking like something we'll be celebrating annually for generations to come.
In light of the Night King's demise, fans have begun speculating that Arya Stark will also be the one to off Cersei Lannister. In a previous episode back in Season 3, Lady Melisandre told Arya, "I see a darkness in you. And in that darkness, eyes staring back at me. Brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes. Eyes you'll shut forever."
In Season 5, Arya killed Meryn Trant, who had brown eyes; ditto Walder Frey in Season 7. Now that she's killed the Night King, who has blue eyes, fans believe the green-eyed Cersei is next on her kill list. And for those keeping score, the Night King wasn't even on her list.
